Four injured as landmine explodes in Daraa countryside

DARAA, Syria (North Press) – A child and three women were injured on Saturday when a landmine left from previous battles exploded in the countryside of Daraa, southern Syria.

A local source told North Press that the explosion occurred as a vehicle carrying workers passed near Tel al-Khader, a former Syrian government military site west of the town of Dael.

The injured were transferred to Daraa National Hospital for treatment. According to the source, their conditions ranged from moderate to minor injuries.

Incidents involving unexploded ordnance and landmines remain a persistent danger in Daraa and across Syria, where years of conflict have left large areas contaminated.

In October last year, two children lost their lives after a war remnant exploded in the eastern countryside of Daraa.

It is worth noting that in northeast Syria, the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and local mine action teams, with international support, continue demining operations to reduce the threat of unexploded ordnance in civilian areas.
