Israeli forces launch new incursions in Quneitra and Daraa

QUNEITRA, Syria (North Press) – Israeli army units conducted new incursions on Friday into several towns and villages in the southern Syrian governorates of Quneitra and Daraa, where they established military checkpoints and detained civilians, according to local media reports.

The Syrian state-run news agency (SANA) said that at dawn, a six-vehicle Israeli patrol entered the town of Abidin in the Yarmouk Basin, west of Daraa, and arrested three young men before later releasing them.

In a separate incident, four Israeli military vehicles reportedly entered the village of al-Ajraf in Quneitra , where soldiers searched several houses and set up a checkpoint at the village entrance.

Residents in southern Syria have reported repeated incursions and raids by Israeli forces across the Quneitra and Daraa countryside since Bashar al-Assad‘s fall.

The reported actions represent a violation of the 1974 disengagement agreement between Syria and Israel, as well as international rules and UN resolutions affirming the sovereignty of states, according to Syrian officials.

No immediate comment was issued by the Israeli authorities.
