Damascus internal security arrests two in actress Diyala Salhi’s murder
DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – The Internal Security Forces in Damascus announced the arrest of two individuals involved in the murder of actress Diala Salhi, approximately 24 hours after news of her death was received.
On Sunday, actress Diala Al-Wadi was strangled to death by unknown assailants who broke into her home in the Al-Maliki.
According to Brigadier General Osama Mohammad Khair Atkeh, head of Internal Security in the Damascus Governorate, the city’s Criminal Investigation Branch was able to uncover key details of the crime within a day of receiving the report. “Following the notification of a body found in a residential apartment, our units responded immediately and began collecting forensic evidence and reviewing surveillance footage in the area,” Atkeh said in a statement.
Initial investigations revealed that the victim, known professionally as Diala al-Wadi, had recently employed a domestic worker for cleaning tasks. The worker later confessed to coordinating with another individual to carry out the murder, reportedly driven by a motive of theft.
The suspects were detained shortly after the confession, and both are now in custody. Authorities stated that investigations are ongoing to fully determine the circumstances of the crime, and the suspects will be referred to the relevant judicial authorities upon completion of the legal procedures.
