Trump to withdraw U.S. from UNESCO over alleged bias against Israel

DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – The administration of U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Tuesday that it would withdraw from the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

White House spokesperson Anna Kelly said in a statement that the decision followed a 90-day review of U.S. participation in the organization, which focused on whether there were practices involving “anti-Semitism or anti-Israel sentiment within the organization,” according to the New York Post.

Kelly added that the President “has decided to withdraw the United States from UNESCO – which supports woke, divisive cultural and social causes that are totally out-of-step with the commonsense policies that Americans voted for in November.”

The administration accused UNESCO of adopting hostile stances toward Israel, including repeated references to Palestinian territories as “occupied” and allegedly singling out Israel for condemnation while failing to criticize Hamas.

Media reports noted that this is not the first time the U.S. has withdrawn from UNESCO under Trump, referencing a similar move made in 2017 during his first term for the same reasons.
