Drone attacks target oil fields in Iraq’s Kurdistan Region
DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – The Counter-Terrorism Directorate in Iraq’s Kurdistan Region announced on Wednesday that a drone attack targeted two oil fields in the Zakho district.
In a statement, the directorate said: “This morning, three explosive-laden drones struck the DNO oil field in Beshkhabour and the Tawke field in the Zakho Independent Administration.”
The statement confirmed that while the attacks caused material damage to the facilities, there were no casualties.
This incident comes less than 48 hours after a similar drone attack targeted the Khormala oil field in Erbil with two explosive drones.
On Tuesday, Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani called for an immediate and thorough investigation into the recent attacks on oil infrastructure in the Kurdistan Region, warning that “the nature of the attacks indicates malicious intent.”
