Kurdistan Region president emphasizes unity for Syrian Kurds’ future

DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani stressed on Sunday the importance of unity and joint efforts to secure Kurdish rights in Syria’s future.

During a press conference held as part of his participation in the Munich Security Conference, Barzani highlighted that the Kurdistan Region serves as a stabilizing factor for Syria, urging Syrian Kurds to view themselves as an integral part of a new Syria.

He emphasized that Kurds must play a central role in any political solution to the Syrian conflict.

“Protecting the Kurds in Syria has been a top priority for the Kurdistan Region,” Barzani stated, praising cooperation with various parties to ensure their safety.

On regional security, Barzani warned that the threat posed by the Islamic State (ISIS) remains, stressing the importance of continued support from the international coalition to Iraq.
