HTS-government clashes erupt in Idlib, Aleppo

ALEPPO, Syria (North Press) – Areas in the countryside of Idlib and Aleppo, Northwest Syria, experienced on Sunday a significant military escalation by Syrian government forces and Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS, once known as al-Nusra Front) amid ongoing reciprocal shelling between the two parties.

Reports from opposition-affiliated sources indicated that the government forces conducted heavy artillery bombardments near the village of al-Bara in the southern countryside of Idlib.

In a similar vein, shelling targeted the village of Kafr Taal in the western countryside of Aleppo; however, there were no confirmed reports of casualties or material damage.

In a separate incident, the HTS attempted to strike a large Russian Ilyushin aircraft over Idlib using an anti-aircraft missile, but the attack was unsuccessful.

The region has witnessed a surge in military activity over the past week, with claims suggesting that the HTS is gearing up for a large-scale attack against government-held territories in Aleppo.

Additionally, Aleppo and its surrounding areas have reported increased reconnaissance drone activity since morning, coinciding with the presence of warplanes over the city and its outskirts.
