Gunmen kill prominent drug trafficker in Syria’s Daraa

DARAA, Syria (North Press) – Unknown gunmen shot to death on Sunday a prominent drug trafficker in a town in Daraa Governorate, southern Syria.

North Press correspondent reported, citing a local source that Mansour Said Ruwaydan was killed and another was injured due to gunfire from unknown assailants in the town of al-Mleiha al-Sharqiyah, northeast of Daraa.

The source added that Ruwaydan was inside a house in al-Mleiha al-Sharqiyah when gunmen entered, asked everyone with him to step away and evacuated the area, and then opened fire, leading to his immediate death.

The source noted that Ruwaydan hails from the village of Musaykah in the Lajat area in the east of Dara, and is considered one of the key figures involved in smuggling drugs into Jordan, explaining that he employed over 30 people whose job was to transport drugs across the border.
