ISIS claims responsibility for attacking Asayish in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – On Saturday, Islamic State (ISIS) claimed responsibility for launching an attack against members of the Internal Security Forces of North and East Syria (Asayish) in a town in the eastern of Deir ez-Zor Governorate, eastern Syria.
The ISIS-run Amaq News Agency said in a statement that ISIS militants attacked two Asayish members with machine guns in the town of Abu Hardoub in the eastern of Deir ez-Zor.
The attack resulted in the immediate killing of both members, according to the statement.
However, a security source from the Asayish stated that the assault targeted two members, resulting in the killing of one and the injury of the other. The injured member is currently in good health condition and receiving treatment at a hospital.
There is a surge in the activities of the sleeper cells of the ISIS in Deir ez-Zor that usually result in the assassination of members of the Asayish and fighters of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).
On Feb.1, ISIS claimed responsibility for launching an attack against the SDF north of Deir ez-Zor.
