Taiwan signs aid agreement with U.S. to support NE Syria
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Taiwan and the U.S. signed on Dec.12 an aid agreement to support development plans in northeast Syria.
Radio Taiwan International (Rti) said that the agreement was signed by Taiwan’s representative to the U.S., Alexander Yui, and Managing Director of the American Institute in Taiwan (AIT), Ingrid Larson, in Washington.
AIT has announced that Taiwan’s donation will support projects in Hasakah and Deir ez-Zor Governorates in northeast Syria. The aid will focus on improving public health, enhancing quality of life, and providing training for first responders. AIT expects this support to revitalize and strengthen civil society in the region.
Taiwan, as a member of The US-Global Coalition against the Islamic State (ISIS), has signed the agreement in support of the coalition’s mission to combat and defeat ISIS. Taiwan has provided humanitarian aid to areas formerly occupied by ISIS, and this agreement reinforces its commitment to the coalition’s efforts.
Taiwan’s representative to the U.S. highlights that Taiwan is ready to play a more active role and work with global partners to promote prosperity.
