DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – An Improvised Explosive Device (IED) was exploded on Monday in the Syrian Desert killing five militants of an Iranian militia and injuring others.

A military source said unidentified gunmen targeted a military convoy of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) with an IED and machine guns on the road connecting the city of Homs and Palmyra in Syrian Desert.
The attack resulted in the killing of five IRGC militants and the injury of others, the source added.
Identifiers on Telegram shared a footages showing a document and a logo attributing the attack to a militia called Jaafar al-Tayyar battalions.
The battalions hold the flag of the Syrian armed opposition factions and operate in the Syrian Desert. They often attack the government forces and Iranian militias.
