Unknown gunmen attack SDF posts in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor for 2nd day

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Unknown individuals attacked on Saturday posts of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) across the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria, for the second day in a row after the Syrian government forces launched shells from areas in the west of the Euphrates River.

A military source within the SDF said that unidentified gunmen attacked with machineguns an SDF post near the water station in the town of Shuhail in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor and another post in the al-Shabaka School near the Euphrates River.

The source told North Press that the attack started after the government forces, present in areas west of the Euphrates River, shelled the vicinity of SDF’s posts with two mortar shells. Then, clashes followed and ended when the attackers retreated.

Meanwhile, Unknown gunmen launched a rocket attack on an SDF post located on the outskirts of the village of Hawaij. According to the source, the attack caused only material damages.

Simultaneously, unidentified gunmen riding a motorcycle targeted a checkpoint of the Internal Security Forces of North and East Syria (Asayish) near the entrance to the town of al-Busayrah in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor without causing any casualties.

According to the SDF, gunmen linked with the government forces and Iranian-backed militias, stationed in areas west of the Euphrates River, continue to target SDF patrols and posts in the countryside of Deir ez-Zor.
