Iran FM warns US of ‘new fronts’ if support for Israel continues

ERBIL, Syria (North Press) – Iran’s Foreign Minister, Hussein Amir Abdullahian, has warned that new fronts will be opened against the US if it continues to support Israel in its war on the Hamas in the Gaza Strip.

Abdullahian’s statements came less than a day after the United States announced military strikes on two facilities in eastern Syria linked to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), which were reportedly used for attacks against US forces in the region.

At an interview on Friday with Bloomberg from Iran’s mission to the United Nations in New York, the Iranian minister hinted that the Israel-Hamas war will spread out in the region if the US continues its support to Israel.

Abdullahian further cautioned that the Israeli ground operation in Gaza would have “dire consequences” for Israel, urging the US to decide whether they truly want to escalate the war.

The Iranian foreign minister did not provide specific details regarding the “consequences” Iran might undertake in the future, denying any instructions from Iran to its affiliated groups in Syria and Iraq to target US forces in recent days.

According to an informed US official cited by Politico newspaper, more than 20 service members have reported minor injuries as a result of over a dozen Iran-backed attacks on US positions since October 17.

Abdullahian stated that the groups attacking US forces in Syria and Iraq act independently and have not received any orders from Tehran.

The Iranian minister dismissed claims that the Islamic republic is deploying forces to Syria or other parts of the region, stating that Iran will take the necessary measures based on its national interests.

The Israeli military has intensified its attacks in recent days, with Israeli military spokesman, Lt. Col. Jonathan Conricus, stating on Friday that Israel is preparing for “future stages of the operation.”

“Opening of new fronts will be unavoidable and that will put Israel in a new situation that will make it regret its actions,” he said. “This has reached the point of explosion. Anything is possible and any front can be opened up.”
