Fires devour about 2400 hectares in Syria’s Latakia
DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – Agriculture minister of Syria, Muhamad Qatana, said, on Sunday, that the burned areas in forests of Latakia Governorate, on the Syrian coast, were estimated about 2,400 hectares.
That was during a visit conducted by Arab Organization for Agricultural Development to Latakia at the aim of developing relations and activating the role of the organization bureau in Syria.
Qatana also emphasized the importance of providing support in the field of firefighting and securing needed equipment, according to the pro-Syrian government al-Watan newspaper.
The minister pointed out that the work should be according to a program, a plan and an obvious strategy that starts with an early warning, fire management and then what we must do after extinguishing the fires.
