Syrian government increases price of oil products
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Syria’s Ministry of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection increased on Monday prices of 95-octane gasoline and cylinders of household and industrial gas.
The ministry set the price of the 95-octane gasoline to be 7.600 SYP (about $1) for each liter instead of 5.750.
In addition, the price of the subsidized gas household was set at 15,000 SYP (more than $1.6) instead of 11,500.
A local source told North Press that a gas household cylinder will be sold on black market at 50,000 SYP (about $6) instead of 100,000.
While the price of an industrial gas cylinder is set at 75,000 SYP (about $8) instead of 45,000 on the black market.
In early January, the Syrian government increased the price of the 95-Octane gasoline, as well as, on Dec. 5, 2022, it set the price at 4.900 SYP.
The government-held areas are witnessing severe fuel shortages and soaring prices of the commodities and food products due to the collapse of the Syrian pound against the US Dollar, which negatively impacts people’s lives.
