Iranian President to tour Aleppo in scheduled visit to Syria
ALEPPO, Syria (North Press) – Iranian President, Ebrahim Raisi, is expected to visit the city of Aleppo in his two-day scheduled visit to Syria, informed government sources told North Press on Sunday.
Raisi will arrive in Damascus next Wednesday in “an exceptional visit in terms of its outcomes” to Syria since 2011, according to Syrian and Iranian officials.
The sources noted that Raisi will arrive in Syria accompanied by several Iranian ministers. He will then announce the commencement of implementing decisions related to contracts for commercial and construction companies specialized in the reconstruction phase and the launching of economic projects of interest to Iran within the influence of the Syrian Government.
The visit will include field tours in Damascus and Aleppo to oversee the damages caused by the February 6 earthquake in the old neighborhoods of the city, the sources noted.
The government authorities in Aleppo have been working for the past days to remove all roadwork from main roads and entrances to the city and to remove all unofficial markets from the city’s center near the ancient archaeological city.
The authorities in Damascus also worked on Saturday to remove the checkpoints surrounding the Iranian embassy in the al-Mazzeh area in preparations for the visit.
