Unknown individuals target Asayish headquarters in Syria’s Hasakah

HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – Unknown individuals threw on Monday at down a stun grenade at the headquarters of Internal Security Forces in North and East Syria (Asayish) in al-Zuhour neighborhood, in the city of Hasakah, northeast Syria.

A local source told North Press that after the incident, the Asayish forces deployed in the streets of the neighborhood surrounding al-Sina’a prison, searching for the perpetrators.

Al-Sina’a prison houses thousands of the Islamic State (ISIS) fighters. It was the site of a large-scale attack by ISIS in January 2022.

In December 2022, ISIS sleeper cells attacked the Asayish headquarters in Raqqa, claiming the lives of six members of the Asayish and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), and wounding others.

A few days later, the SDF announced the launch of ‘Operation al-Jazeera Thunderbolt’ in the countryside of both Hasakah and Qamishli, northeast Syria, to pursue ISIS sleeper cells.
