Night demonstration in Syria’s Aleppo against Arab rapprochement
ALEPPO, Syria (North Press) – A protest was organized at night in the city of al-Bab in the eastern countryside of Aleppo, northern Syria, against the Arab rapprochement with the Syrian government.
An exclusive source told North Press that protestors gathered near the al-Fatih mosque in the city center after Taraweeh prayers.
The protestors held up banners condemning the Arab countries’ quest to normalize with the Syrian government and to reopen embassies.
Last week, mass demonstrations took place in Afrin, Azaz, and Marea, which are under the control of the Turkish-backed armed opposition, to stress their rejection of the Arab and Turkish rapprochement with Damascus.
The demonstrators denounced the rapprochement and burned photos of Abdulrahman Mustafa, the head of the Turkish-backed opposition’s Syrian Interim Government, “because of their silence on normalization and rapprochement.”
Al-Bab city has been under the occupation of Turkey and its affiliated armed factions, also known as Syrian National Army (SNA) since 2017.
The SNA held-areas continue to witness a security chaos with many clashes and recurrent explosions amid the inability of the factions to maintain order.
