Calls made for organizing protest against rapprochement with Syria
ALEPPO, Syria (North Press) – On Sunday, activists in the city of al-Bab in the eastern countryside of Aleppo called for organizing a night demonstration to express “rejection over rapprochement with Syria” in al-Fatih mosque square in the city center.
An exclusive source told North Press that the “Revolutionary Movement” in the city set the square of al-Fatih mosque in al-Bab as the place for demonstrators to gather at 10:00 pm.
Al-Bab city has been under the control of Turkey and its affiliated factions since 2017.
On April 14, massive demonstrations occurred in the cities of Afrin, Azaz, and Marea, rejecting the Arab and Turkish rapprochement with Syria, according to the source.
The demonstrators condemned the rapprochement and burned photos of Abdulrahman Mustafa, the head of the Turkish-backed opposition’s Syrian Interim Government, because of “their silence on the rapprochement and normalization.”
Syria, following the disaster of the Feb. 6 earthquake, has been witnessing an Arab opening towards normalizing ties.
Syria and Saudi Arabia announced on April 13 the resumption of consular services and flights between the two countries towards boosting diplomatic relations.
