Residents of Daraa protest at Syrian war 12th anniversary
DARAA, Syria (North Press) – Dozens of residents in the city of Daraa, south Syria, protested on Friday at the 12th anniversary of the Syrian war though government forces control the governorate.
A local source told North Press, “Dozens of residents of Daraa protested after the Friday prayer in a square in the city at the anniversary of the Syrian war that started 12 years ago.”
The source added that the protesters called for toppling of the “regime,” demanding “freedom, justice, and release of arrestees in the government’s prisons for years without revealing their fate.”
The source noted that the protesters raised banners on which the written phrases stressed on the steadfast principles that will not change.
Though many military posts of the government forces have been intensively deployed in Daraa that witnessed intensive security measures, some residents took to street against the Syrian government at the anniversary of the Syrian war.
Daraa witnessed the first spark of the Syrian conflict that started in 2011.
