Both UN Humanitarian Coordinator, El-Mostafa Benlamlih, and UN Regional Humanitarian Coordinator, Muhannad Hadi, assured that there must be a “comprehensive solution” to end the conflict in Syria.
Benlamlih and Hadi said, in a joint statement, on the twelfth anniversary of the Syrian war that all stakeholders must determinate to continue pursuing lasting peace for Syrians to rebuild their devastated lives.
There are 6.8 million IDPs inside the country and at least 6.8 million living as refugees outside of Syria, according to the statement.

The earthquake that hit the country in February has added yet another layer of tragedy and despair, as “8.8 million people were affected.”
