Windstorm kills one, wounds eleven in Syria’s Idlib
IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – Two people died, and more than 10 were injured on Monday when damaged walls fell on passersby in the street of Idlib city and its countryside in northwest Syria during a severe windstorm that hit different regions of Syria.
Local sources told North Press that two people died when damaged walls fell while they were passing by in al-Bezar street in Idlib. Three others were injured in the same street and near the al-Kura roundabout in the city center.
The sources added that four people were wounded by collapsing walls in the cities of Harem and Salqin in north Idlib. Three others sustained various injuries in Jisr al-Shughur and its countryside in western Idlib.
Regions of northwest Syria were exposed to a windstorm last night that caused many walls, which were already damaged by the February 6 earthquake, to fall in on themselves in Idlib and its countryside, as well as in the town of Jindires, in the Afrin region, in northern Aleppo.
The Syrian Civil Defense, operating in Syrian opposition-held areas in northwest Syria, announced that the severe windstorm uprooted more than 30 tents in temporary shelters for the quake-affected people in the countryside of Idlib and Aleppo.
