Turkish-backed factions steal aid sent to quake-affected in Jindires

AFRIN, Syria (North Press) – Turkish-backed armed opposition factions, also known as the Syrian National Army (SNA), stole aid sent to earthquake-affected people in the town of Jindires, northwestern Syria, a local source told North Press on Saturday.

The source said that the SNA factions force the NGOs operating in the region to reserve more than 100 shares of each type of aid sent to the affected people in Jindires of Afrin countryside to be delivered to its militants later.

On Feb. 6, a devastating earthquake hit southern Turkey and northwestern Syria, killing about 50.000 and injuring many more, in addition to devastating thousands of buildings under which thousands were trapped.

Jaysh al-Sharqiyah, Sham Legion, and Sultan Suleiman Shah (also known as al-Amshat) are colluding with the management of the local council in Jindires to add the names of their militants to the list of earthquake-affected people in order to receive humanitarian aid and food parcels.

The Sham Legion brought its members positioned in the towns of Darat Izza and Atarib in the west of Aleppo, under the control of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS, formerly al-Nusra Front), to receive humanitarian aid and food parcels in Jindires, the source added.

In the city of al-Bab, east of Aleppo, unknown individuals broke into the Qatar Red Crescent organization’s warehouses and stole all its contents in the early hours of Saturday, according to an exclusive source.

The same source added that unknown men broke into the warehouse near Fatima al-Zahraa mosque in al-Bab and took all its content.
