432 deaths, 714 injuries in Aleppo due to quake – Governor
ALEPPO, Syria (North Press) – Aleppo Governor Hussein Diyab revealed on Sunday the toll of the Feb. 6 earthquake in Aleppo.
According to the governor, the earthquake resulted in 432 deaths, 714 injuries, six missing, 54 collapsed buildings, and more than 13.000 affected families. This toll is limited to the government-held areas in Aleppo governorate.
Diyab said in a press conference, “Work is ongoing in establishing accommodation centers equipped with all basic needs and in returning the educational process and other services back on track.”
He added that they have opened 188 accommodation centers, and that 100 engineering committees had been formed to inspect the residential and governmental buildings in the wake of the earthquake. About 11.277 buildings have been inspected, 8.684 of them were classified as safe, he said.
Diyab noted that Aleppo International Airport has received 37 relief aid from more than 12 countries.
