European aid-ship for quake-affected Syria arrives at Beirut port
DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – On Friday, an Italian ship loading aid provided by Italy and the European Union to earthquake-affected people in Syria arrived at the Port of Beirut.
Syrian Arab Red Crescent said on its Facebook account that the Lebanese Red Crescent will transfer the ship cargo to be delivered to the Syrian Red Crescent through border.
The aid will be handed over to the Syrian Red Crescent with the attendance of the Chargé d’Affaires of the Italian Embassy, Massimiliano D’Antouno, and the Director of the General Directorate of European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations in Syria, Luigi Pandolfi.
Several Arab and foreign countries have sent humanitarian relief aid to Syria following the Feb. 6 devastating earthquake that hit several areas in the country, killing hundreds and injuring much more in addition to destroying thousands of buildings and causing tens of thousands of people to become homeless.
On February 11, an Italian military plane arrived at Beirut International Airport, carrying medical aid to support those quake-affected people in Syria.
