Stealing aid urges organizations to withdraw from eastern Aleppo
ALEPPO, Syria (North Press) – On Monday, humanitarian organizations withdrew from the town of Soran in the northern countryside of Aleppo due to stealing humanitarian aid meant to be delivered to Syrians hit by the February 6 earthquake.
An exclusive source told North Press a number of local and international organizations announced suspending their work in the town until further notice after a group of the Turkish-backed Levant Front stole relief aid.
Soran is run by Turkish-backed armed Syrian opposition factions, also known as the Syrian National Army (SNA).
The source added that a group affiliated to “Majed Bakour” of the Levant Front stole relief and humanitarian aid provided by civil society organizations to those affected by the earthquake.
After the organizations’ withdrawal, fight erupted between the earthquake-affected people and militants of the Levant Front due to halting support to the town, according to the source.
The devastating earthquake killed 33 people and injured 60 others in Soran.
Victims’ toll of earthquakes that struck Syria on Feb. 6 after stronger ones that hit Turkey has surged to 3.694 dead and 14.806 injured as a provision count.
