US citizen faces 50 years in prison for supporting ISIS in Syria
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – A US citizen faces a maximum penalty of 50 years in prison after he pleaded guilty for providing material support to Islamic State (ISIS) in Syria.
The US Department of Justice said on Monday, in an immediate release, that the US citizen, Ibraheem Izzy Musaibli, 32, was convicted by a federal jury over Supporting ISIS, attending an ISIS training camp, downloading propaganda and a book on how to get into Syria.
Musaibli, who was born in Detroit, traveled to Yemen in 2015 and then to Syria in the same year where he attended an ISIS camp and received military training.
Musaibli remained with ISIS for over two years and a half before being detained by Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in 2018, as he was handed over to the US, to later face terrorism charges.
