800.000 Captagon pills seized on Jordan’s border with Syria

DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – On Monday, Jordanian authorities seized more than 800.000 Captagon pills coming from Syria after clashes lead to the injury of a smuggler.

Jordan’s state-run TV channel quoted a military source as saying that in coordination with the Directorate of Military Security and the Anti-Drug Department, an attempt to smuggle drugs was aborted.

Clashes erupted between Jordanian forces and smugglers as they tried to cross into Jordan that lead to the injury of a smuggler while the remainder fled to Syrian territories, according to al-Mamlaka TV.

According to the source, 818.000 Captagon pills were seized in addition to a gun and ammunition.

There are about 10 Captagon factories in southern Syria with a capacity production of about 10 million pills a month.

Jordanian forces are challenged with sneaking and smuggling attempts that usually develop to clashes. Seizing drugs is a common occurrence on the country’s northern border by the security forces of Jordan, however.
