SDF arrests wanted on belonging to ISIS in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – On Tuesday, the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) with the support of the US-led Global Coalition arrested three individuals accused of belonging to the Islamic State Organization (ISIS) in a town east of Deir ez-Zor, east Syria.

During an airborne operation, the SDF with the support of the Coalition arrested three individuals charged with belonging to ISIS, an SDF military source in Shuhail town, 40 kilometers east of Deir ez-Zor, said.

“The wanted individuals refused to surrender so that the operation was carried out near Salam Mosque in al-Hesiyya neighborhood in the town after a pursuit lasted for about half an hour,” the source added.

The wanted individuals were hiding in the house of the wanted to SDF Anwar Shab, a resident of the town, who is charged with belonging to ISIS, according to the source.  

All the wanted individuals are members of one family hailing from the government-held city of al-Mayadin, in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor.

With the support of the Coalition forces, the SDF has recently intensified its security operations in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor to pursuit the ISIS sleeper cells.

On December 3, the ISIS claimed responsible for the assassination of the sheikh of the Albu Feryo clan of the Delaim tribe, in the Suwar district, 40 km north of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria.
