Israeli incursion, artillery shelling target Syria’s Quneitra countryside
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Israeli forces carried out a ground incursion into the northern Quneitra countryside on Sunday evening, while artillery shelling targeted areas in the southern countryside.
A North Press correspondent in Quneitra reported that an Israeli force of two tanks entered an area near a United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF) position at Tal al-Hawa, south of Jabata al-Khashab, and began extensive land clearing operations.
Another dismounted Israeli force, accompanied by several military vehicles, moved between the villages of al-Ajraf and Eastern Samadaniyah, setting up a checkpoint at the main entrances and searching passersby and vehicles before withdrawing. No arrests were reported.
Meanwhile, Israeli artillery shelled the vicinity of Tal Ahmar, east of Ain al-Abd and al-Asbah villages in southern Quneitra, with at least two rounds, sparking a fire in nearby agricultural land. Residents extinguished the fire, with no injuries reported.
