ISIS claims responsibility for killing tribal notable in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – On Friday, ISIS claimed the assassination of the sheikh of the Albu Feryo clan of the Delaim tribe, in the Suwar district, 40 km north of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria.

“On November 23, ISIS militants targeted, with automatic weapons, Inad Hassan al-Mufdi, the sheikh of the Albu Feryo clan and a dignitary of the Delaim tribe, near the main road in the town of Abu Nitel in the district of Suwar,” the al-Naba’ online newspaper, which is close to ISIS, said.  

Through its media outlets, ISIS said the reason for the targeting was cooperation with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).  

Recently, the countryside of Deir ez-Zor has been witnessing killing of SDF members, employees of the Autonomous Administration, tribal figures, and civilians.
