Baghdadi’s deputy captured by the Iraqi army

ERBIL, Iraq (North Press) – On Monday, Iraqi Prime Minister, Mustafa al-Kadhimi, announced the arrest of a prominent leader of the Islamic State (ISIS), who held the position of supervisor of the ISIS’s funds and the deputy leader of the former ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.

“While our ISF heroes focused on securing the elections, their INIS colleagues were conducting a complex external operation to capture Sami Jasim, who was in charge of Daesh finance, and a deputy of Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi,” al-Kadhimi tweeted.

The Security Media Cell said in a statement that “the organization has faced major blows in the recent period, by arresting and killing a number of its most important leaders and princes, in order to enhance the security of the country and prevent the organization from carrying out its criminal acts in Iraq.”

The statement indicated that Sami, nicknamed Abu Asia, held leadership, security and financial positions within the terrorist organization, including deputy terrorist Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, and also held the so-called House of Money Diwan in the organization.”
