SDF arrests ISIS suspects in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – On Tuesday, the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) arrested four people accused of being affiliated with ISIS in two separate operations east of Deir ez-Zor, east Syria.

The SDF arrested two people who were hiding in the house of one of their relatives in the 24th neighborhood of the town on charges of belonging to ISIS, a military source from the SDF in the town of Ash Sha’Fah, 115 kilometers east of Deir ez-Zor, said.

The arrest came through a raid campaign carried out by special units of the SDF, the source added.

The SDF found Kalashnikovs and ammunition, in addition to documents with the detainees proving their collaboration with ISIS, according to the source.

Moreover, today at dawn, the SDF arrested two ISIS members in the town of al-Shuhail, 40 km east of Deir ez-Zor.

The SDF arrested the ISIS suspects while they were hiding in an abandoned house in the middle of the al-Khayasa neighborhood in the outskirts of the town, an SDF military source in the town said.

Kalashnikovs and ammunition were found with them, the source added to North Press.

The eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor is witnessing an escalation of the assassinations of SDF members, employees of the Autonomous Administration, clan dignitaries and civilians.
