Iranian-backed factions bomb a house of Central Committee member in Syria’s Daraa

DARAA, Syria (North Press) – On Saturday, the Iranian-backed armed factions besieging Daraa al-Balad region and the surrounding neighborhoods of Daraa governorate, south Syria, bombed the home of Adnan al-Masalma, the spokesman for the Central Committee in Daraa al-Balad.

Military sources told North Press that a number of artillery shells hit the al-Masalma house, causing great damage.

On August 8, the Iranian-backed factions targeted the house of Abdel Nasser al-Mahamid, member of the Central Committee, with several shells that destroyed large parts of his house.

In a related context, today on Saturday, the Syria government forces opened the al-Sina’iyah checkpoint that connects Daraa al-Balad and the surrounding neighborhoods with the city center of Daraa.

Local sources told North Press that this is the first time that this checkpoint has been opened after 66 days of the siege imposed by the Iranian-backed factions on Daraa al-Balad and its surrounding neighborhoods.

“This checkpoint is controlled by the Air Force Intelligence of the government forces, and it was opened only for the exit of civilians, while not allowing anyone or any food items to enter,” the sources added.

In another context, the government forces established a military checkpoint on the road between the towns of al-Musaifra and al-Ghariya al-Sharqiya at al-Maher Factory, before it was removed hours later.

Syrian government forces and pro-Iranian factions have been besieging the Daraa al-Balad and other neighborhoods and closing all roads leading to them for more than two month.

According to an announced agreement between Russians and Syrian government and the Central Committees in Horan, 79 people, including eight women and 26 children from Daraa al-Balad, arrived on two buses accompanied by members of Russian patrols to Abu al-Zendin crossing, west of the city of al-Bab in the countryside of Aleppo, media outlets reported.

This came two days after the first batch including eight deportees who hail from Daraa, Rif Dimashq, and the countryside of Homs were deported from the city towards the Syrian north.
