For the second consecutive day, Turkey bombards Syria’s Tel Tamr

TEL TAMR, Syria (North Press) – On Saturday evening, the Turkish forces and the Turkish-backed armed opposition factions targeted two villages in the countryside of Tel Tamr, north of Hasakah, northeastern Syria, for the second day in a row.

A source of the Tel Tamr Military Council said that the Turkish bombardment targeted the two villages of al-Kozaliya and Umm al-Khair, west of Tel Tamr.

North Press was unable to get information about the damage caused by the bombing of the two inhabited villages.

For about three weeks, the Turkish forces and their affiliated factions escalated their bombardment on the towns of Tel Tamr and Abu Rasin, north of Hasakah, targeting inhabited villages and vital facilities in the area.

The frequent bombardment of the area caused the displacement of hundreds of families, some of whom sought refuge in Newroz camp near the city of Derik, in the far northeastern Syria, while others settled in schools in the city of Hasakah.

Yesterday, the Turkish forces bombed the agricultural lands near the village of Umm al-Khair, with several shells, without casualties reported.

The Turkish army has been stationed on the outskirts of Tel Tamr at a length of 40 kilometers since it took control over the border city of Sere Kaniye (Ras al-Ain) in late 2019.
