Dozens of houses damaged in mutual shelling in northwest Syria

IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – On Friday evening, the countryside of Idlib and Hama, northwest Syria, witnessed a continuation of mutual shelling between the Syrian government forces and the Syrian opposition factions, resulting in material damage to the homes of the residents.

“The government forces stationed in the city of Kafranbel and the town of Basqala, intensified their artillery shelling on the villages and towns of Sfuhun, al-Fatira, Kafr Oweid, Kansafra and al-Bara in Zawiya Mountain, south of Idlib,” sources of the opposition said.

The sources added that the bombing caused significant material damage to dozens of houses, but no human losses were reported.

A military source of the National Front for Liberation told North Press that the al-Fateh al-Mubin Operations Room, which includes several factions, bombed the positions of the government forces in the cities Kafranbel and Ma’arat al-Nu’man, with rockets and heavy artillery shells.

The Turkish-backed Syrian opposition factions also targeted sites in the villages and towns of Ma’arat Hurmah, Hazarin, al-Malaja, al-Dar al-Kabira and Basqala in the southern countryside of Idlib, with missiles.

Earlier today, Russian warplanes launched air strikes on the outskirts of the towns of al-Bara and Majdaliyah in the Zawiya Mountain area.
