Pro-Iranian faction’s member killed by his leader in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – On Friday, a gunman in an Iranian-backed faction was killed by the leader of his group in the countryside of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria.

A source of the pro-Iranian Hashemiyoun faction in the town of al-Ashara, 55 km east of Deir ez-Zor, said that Qassem al-Abed al-Razzaq, member of Liwa Abu al-Fadhal al-Abbas (al-Abbas Brigade), was killed by the leader of his group due to a dispute between them.

The source, who preferred not to be named, added that the faction’s leader tried to agree with his members to hide the crime through a rumor that the member had shot himself, but he fled after revealing the truth by another official in the faction.

The source did not reveal the reasons for the dispute between the faction’s leader and al-Razzaq, who hails from the town of al-Meri’yeh, which is held by the Syrian government, west of the Euphrates.

In another incident on Friday afternoon, a civilian was wounded in the town of al-Duweir, 80 km east of Deir ez-Zor, by gunmen of the Ninth Regiment backed by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

A source from al-Duwair told North Press that members stationed on the western bank of the Euphrates opened fire at civilians who were near their farms near the regiment, which resulted in the injury of one person in the chest, while the rest managed to flee towards the town.

He added that the civilians did not even receive a warning before the bullets rained down directly at them.

A doctor at al-Hikma Hospital in the town of al-Ashara said that the wounded man, who was shot by members of the pro-Iranian Ninth Regiment, needs surgery, and he is in the Intensive Care Unit in the hospital.
