SDC discusses Syrian crisis with cultural figures in Syria’s northeast Derik

DERIK, Syria (North Press) – On Saturday, the Syrian Democratic Council (SDC) held a seminar under the slogan “The Intellectual and the Prospects for the Political Solution in Syria”, in the city of Derik, in the far northeastern Syria, to discuss the political solution in Syria.

Darya Ramadan, member of the SDC Presidential Council, told North Press that they held the session with cultural figures to activate their role and to take their views, whether negative or positive, especially since they are considered a group excluded from political issues.

She touched on the most important issues that they discussed in the seminar, which centered on the challenges facing the project of the SDC and the Autonomous Administration to find a political solution in Syria.

The second axis is the role of the cultural figures in finding a political solution in the country.

Ramadan stated that the opinions presented during the seminar, focused mostly on the challenges of a political solution, despite international meetings such as Sochi and Astana, without reaching a political solution in Syria, but prolonging the Syrian war for the interests of these countries.

Ramadan stressed that the SDC, since its inception, has aimed at dialogue with all political parties in Syria.

Muhammad Amin Sa’doun, one of the participants, said that there is no room for the intellectuals to play their role effectively to put forward opinions and suggestions.

He added that the seminars and sessions came late, but they are important in activating the role of the cultural figures, pointing out to the need to take opinions and suggestions and implement them in reality.

On August 19, the SDC held a similar seminar in the city of Qamishli, northeast Syria, where it discussed the cultural figures’ role in accelerating the process of political solution to the war that has been going on in Syria for a decade.
