Syriac Council demands international community to condemn Turkish violations in NE Syria
HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – On Wednesday, a spokesman for the Syriac Military Council called on the international community to condemn the violations of the Turkish forces in northeastern Syria.
Matay Hanna, the official spokesman for the Syriac Military Council, called on “the international community and the countries active in the Syrian issue see the Turkish violations in a broader way and condemn them.”
“The Turkish escalation has gone beyond the military side and reached the point of committing violations against humanity and targeting educational facilities and infrastructure that serve the people of the region,” he added.
Hanna considered that the escalation comes “within the framework of Turkey’s desire to strike the security and safety that the SDF achieved after the defeat of ISIS, and to complement the pressure with the aim of thwarting the diplomatic efforts of the Autonomous Administration to find official international recognition, especially after meetings with official governments and several other parties.”
He pointed out that they will “not be stingy” in making more sacrifices in order to protect their sanctities and their people.
The Syriac Military Council is one of the military councils affiliated with the Syrian Democratic Forces, and its forces are deployed along the lines of contact with the Turkish-backed opposition factions in the Tel Tamr area.
For ten days, the Turkish forces and the affiliated opposition factions have escalated their bombardment on the town of Tel Tamr and its countryside, 40 km north of the city of Hasakah, targeting inhabited villages and vital facilities in the area.
Yesterday, the countryside of Tel Tamr witnessed renewal of the Turkish bombardment which hit the villages of al-Dardara and Tel Shanan and the vicinity of the power transmission station near the Russian base, north of the town.
