Ongoing Turkish bombardment on Syria’s Tel Tamr deprives 23 villages of services

TEL TAMR, Syria (North Press) – The council of the northern countryside of Tel Tamr town in the countryside of Hasakah, northeast Syria, has suspended its service work in 23 villages due to the Turkish bombardment which hit the power network and the council building too.

For ten days, the Turkish forces and the affiliated opposition factions have escalated their bombardment on the town of Tel Tamr and its countryside, 40 km north of the city of Hasakah, targeting inhabited villages and vital facilities in the area.

Today, the countryside of Tel Tamr witnessed renewal of the Turkish bombardment which hit the villages of al Dardara and Tel Shanan and the vicinity of the power transmission station near the Russian base, north of the town.

Some parts of the power station were damaged as a result of the fall of the shrapnel inside.

“Several shells fell on the vicinity of the station, causing material damage to a wall and its parts,” Abdulsalam Sama’ila, a worker at the station, said.

“Dozens of the villages located between the towns of Tel Tamr and Zirgan (Abu Rasin) have been deprived of power for three weeks due to the Turkish bombing which damaged the cables of the electricity and the high tension cable and electricity cables,” he told North Press.

The village of al-Dardara, 4 km north of Tel Tamr, is the most prominent village on which the Turkish bombardment is focused, as it was hit by hundreds of Turkish shells last week.

Some residents of the village are still in their homes despite the bombing and damage to their property. The council’s headquarters in the village was also targeted and three rooms were destroyed.

“Conducting services has been stopped in 23 villages due to the Turkish bombardment that hit the council building,” hamad Haido, an official of the council of the northern countryside of Tel Tamr, told North Press.

“The lives of staff and residents are at risk, as shells fall randomly and at different times of the day and night,” he added.
