Turkish occupation of northeast Syria unsustainable: SDF commander
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – On Friday, Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) Commander-in-Chief Mazloum Abdi said that Turkish forces do not have the factors that help them to stay for a longer period in the areas they occupy in northeastern Syria.
This came in a televised speech of the Commander-in-Chief of the Syrian Democratic Forces at a meeting for the displaced people of the Sere Kaniye (Ras al-Ain) under the theme “We are staying and returning” in the city of Hasakah.
Abdi added that the extent of the survival of the Turkish forces and their affiliated armed factions is related to the extent to which the SDF’s military capacity will be strengthened to restore the area with the support and steadfastness of the residents of the area.
He pointed out that the people of Sere Kaniye have “passed a very difficult trial,” and will be able once again to return to their homes, as they previously passed through difficult stages in the events of 2012.
The forum was attended by IDPs from the city of Sere Kaniye, in addition to representatives of the Global Coalition, the Syrian Democratic Forces, and officials in the Autonomous Administration.
On the importance of the forum, the Commander-in-Chief of the Syrian Democratic Forces said that its outcomes will be a step for the return of the displaced to their land and the restoration of their property again.
