Civil society honors Kurdish Red Crescent in Syria’s Raqqa
RAQQA, Syria (North Press) – On Thursday, civil society organizations in the city of Raqqa, northern Syria, honored the Kurdish Red Crescent (Heyva Sor a Kurd) for its efforts in providing humanitarian assistance to the residents of the region.
Civil society organizations are a group of federations and unions that work to be a link between the laws of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) and social groups and economic activities.
During an evening party in Mishwar Park on the outskirts of the southern city of Raqqa, civil society organizations presented a shield in honor of their name to the Kurdish Red Crescent.
The Kurdish Red Crescent is a non-profit humanitarian organization that operates in the Autonomous Administration areas and is the main provider of medical care in northeastern Syria.
Zuhair al-Hassan, a member of the Civil Society Organizations Department, said that the honor came as a message of thanks to the Kurdish Red Crescent for the efforts made over the past years.
He added to North Press that Heyva Sor a Kurd was one of the humanitarian organizations providing assistance to areas that witnessed battles, in addition to providing assistance during the stages of the spread of the coronavirus.
The Kurdish Red Crescent was founded in late 2012 by doctors and health workers in the city of Amuda, northeastern Syria.
