Health organization found emergency department in Syria’s Kobani
KOBANI, Syria (North Press) – Recently, Kurdish Red Crescent Organization has opened an emergency department to provide emergency medical aid and services in its center in the city of Kobani, north Syria.
Opening the new department was to “transfer patients from their houses to the hospital and from hospitals to other hospitals in other cities,” Mahmoud Muhammad, head of the emergency department of the Kurdish Red Crescent, said.
“The new system includes three ambulances, six nurses, and six drivers working for 24 hours,” Muhammad added.
Muhammad pointed out that the new system interferes in the critical emergency cases that need to be transferred by an ambulance inside and outside the city in addition to transferring wounded and exhuming bodies of traffic incidents.
There are cases in which children suffer from convulsions and coma as a result of high body temperature that requires prompt intervention from the emergency department, pediatrician Ali Manla said.
Additionally, this service is necessary in cases like clots and brain bleeds for old people, Manla added.
The new department aim at reaching to patients, who need this medical service and prompt intervention to rescue them, adding that if ambulances are late, the new department will not fulfill its goal, he noted.
The number of medical centers of the Health Board in Kobani is eight in addition to Kurdish Red Crescent Center and Meshtanour Medical Center in the city center.
