Residents of Syria’s Hajin call on Global Coalition for support
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – On Saturday, in a joint statement, residents, medical teams, and figures in the city of Hajin, east Deir ez-Zor, called on the US-led Global Coalition to support the city’s hospital with equipment and medical crews.
Hajin Hospital, which served areas of the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor years ago, is the biggest hospital in Deir ez-Zor; however, as a result of the war against Islamic State (ISIS), it was destroyed.
“Residents urgently need the services of this hospital in order not to be forced to visit other hospitals in the nearby cities and towns,” the statement said.
Following the rehabilitation works on May 30, the hospital requires medical crews and medical equipment.
In October of 2020, Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) started the project of rehabilitating the only hospital in the city of Hajin following successive demands by the residents.
“US-led Global Coalition should provide the hospital with all required medical equipment and inter it into service seriously,” Doctor Mashari al-Hazom, spokesman of the medical team in Hajin and its villages, told North Press.
The hospital provides medical services to areas extending from al-Baghouz, in the east, to al-Busayra, in the west.
Meanwhile, sheikh Yasin al-Sobaikhan, sheikh of Albu Hardan clan, called on US-led Global Coalition and civil and humanitarian organizations “to provide a helping hand and overcoming difficulties so that this hospital becomes a model comparable to modern hospitals.”
“US-led Global Coalition should immediately response to demands regarding activating Hajin Hospital and supporting it with medical equipment and crews in order to provide medical service to the people of the area and the neighboring ones,” al-Sobaikhan said.
Meanwhile, Ahmad al-Saleh, a resident from Hajin, told North Press, “We are suffering from many diseases and the lack of specialized doctors in the area forcing people to travel to other areas for treatment.”
