Netanyahu approaches to end, protests against new Israeli government
RAMALLAH, Palestine (North Press) – Only 24 hours left in the Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu’s era which lasted for 12 years.
Netanyahu will become a head of the opposition, and he, along with his family, will leave headquarters of the PM in Balfour Street, Maariv stated.
The Israeli journalist, Ben Caspit, accused Netanyahu of being “responsible for toppling his rule and no one else,” as throughout the years of his rule, he was interested in creating political opponents from within the Likud Party, “by stabbing them with a sharp knife in the back,” he said.
“Netanyahu has brought himself to a situation where no important politician in Israel can trust him or his promises. He has no choice but to walk down the street and suggest to a passerby to be the first in the premiership,” he added.
A day before the new government took the pledge of allegiance, the Likud party stressed that “the transfer of power will be orderly, as it has always been in Israel.”
The ultra-Orthodox Jewish parties continue to attack the new Prime Minister, Naftali Bennett.
On June 10, right-wing mass protests were organized in front of the Knesset headquarters, under the slogan “No to the left-wing government.”
The protesters directed their calls to the deputies of Yamina and New Hope, in particular. The organizers said that this is the “opening shot of a stubborn mass struggle to overthrow the government and what they described as supporters of terrorism.”
On the other hand, Yair Lapid, head of Yesh Atid (There is a Future) declared that the public deserves a responsible government to be established in Israel “that is capable of working for its citizens and puts the state’s interest at the top of its priorities.”
Yesterday afternoon, Lapid presented to the Knesset the agreements signed between him and all the parties participating in the new government, in preparation for its pledge of allegiance tomorrow.
