HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – On Tuesday, the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) said, its forces and the special units of the Internal Security Forces (Asayish) arrested a security emir and two members of the Islamic State (ISIS) in the countryside of Deir ez-Zor, east Syria.
The official account of the SDF Coordination and Military Operations Center on Twitter reported that the two operations were carried out with US-led Global Coalition air support.
The special units of the Asayish arrested two ISIS members, who were responsible for recruitment and facilitating operations, according to what the center published.
The SDF arrested a “security emir of ISIS,” who was responsible for planning and carrying out assassinations and closely related to ISIS leaders in the area, in the village of al-Blaliya, in Deir ez-Zor countryside, according to the center.
Early in June, the SDF arrested an ISIS sleeper cell carrying out kidnappings and extortion under the name of paying zakat to ISIS, in an ambush in the countryside of Deir ez-Zor.
