New batch of Syrian IDPs to leave Hawl Camp
HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – A new batch of Syrian families are preparing to leave the camp towards their areas in Sirrin and Kobani, north Syria, Hawl Camp management said on Wednesday.
“The new batch consists of 59 families, with a total of 202 people, and they come from Sirrin and Kobani,” Munir Muhammad, an official of the Exit Office in Hawl Camp, told North Press.
“They will leave the camp according to the initiative of the Syrian Democratic Council (SDC) and the decision issued by the Executive Council of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES),” Muhammad added.
In October, 2020, the AANES Executive Council decided to evacuate the Syrian families that wish to leave.
This is the 16th batch after the initiative of the SDC and tribal sheikhs to evacuate the Syrians from the camp, while it is the first batch heading to Sirrin and the countryside of Kobani.
Earlier, seven batches left the camp to head to Deir ez-Zor, the last of which was on May 11, and it included 83 Syrian families.
Moreover, three batches headed to Raqqa and Tabqa, two to Manbij, two to Hasakah, in addition to a batch dedicated to the elderly from different regions, according to the camp management.
According to the camp statistics, about 16,000 families, with a total of about 59,000 people, have remained in the camp.
Muhammad indicated that they continue to receive and register the names of the Syrians who desire to leave the camp “after completing the procedures of verifying the documents.”
He pointed out that the registration during next week will be dedicated to the IDPs of Raqqa and its countryside.
With the current batch, the number of families leaving the camp since the initiative of the SDC has reached 950 families, with a total of 3,662 people.
