New batch of displaced people leaves Syria’s Hawl Camp
HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – On Tuesday, Hawl Camp management said that a new batch of 83 Syrian families are preparing to leave the camp, east of Hasakah, northeast Syria, towards their areas in the countryside of Deir ez-Zor, east Syria.
This is the 15th batch after the initiative of the Syrian Democratic Council (SDC) and tribal sheikhs to evacuate the Syrians from the camp.
In October, 2020, the Executive Council in the Autonomous Administration decided to evacuate the Syrian families who wish to leave.
Munir Muhammad, an administrative official in the Exit Office in Hawl Camp, told North Press, “The new batch consists of 83 families, with a total of 271 people, and they come from Deir ez-Zor and its countryside.
“They will leave the camp according to the initiative of the SDC and the decision issued by the Executive Council of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria,” Muhammad added.
This is the sixth batch to head to Deir ez-Zor, two headed to Manbij, two to Hasakah, and three to Raqqa and its countryside, in addition to a batch dedicated to the elderly from different regions, ”according to the camp management.
According to the camp statistics, about 16,000 families, with a total of about 59,000 people, have remained in the camp.
There are 8,256 Iraqi families, comprising 30,738 people, about 20,600 displaced Syrians, and about 2,520 foreign families, with a total of about 8,500 people.
Muhammad indicated that they “evacuated them after completing the procedures of verifying the documents.”
With the current batch, the number of families leaving the camp since the initiative of the Syrian Democratic Council has reached 891 families, with a total of 3,460 people.
