Coronavirus vaccination of Syrian refugees in KRG starts
ERBIL, Iraq (North Press) – On Tuesday, the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) started vaccinating the Syrian refugees against COVID-19.
Earlier, the UAE Red Crescent provided the Ministry of Health in KRG with 15,000 doses of the Chinese vaccine.
The vaccination process began in Qushtapa Camp for Syrian refugees and Debaga Camp for Iraqi displaced, in coordination with the pro-KRG Barzani Charitable Foundation.
Informed sources told North Press that another 15,000 doses will be sent to KRG after twenty days, as the first batch is not sufficient.
The number of the displaced and refugees in Kurdistan Region of Iraq amounts to about 2 million people.
Previously, the governor of Erbil, Umid Khoshnaw, considered that securing the vaccine for the displaced and refugees was a major concern of his government.
