ISIS claims bombing of school in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – On Thursday, a school building in the countryside of Deir Ez-Zor, eastern Syria, was subjected to an explosion claimed by the Islamic State (ISIS), without causing any casualties.

A local source in the town of al-Busayrah, 35 km east of Deir ez-Zor, said that unidentified individuals blew up a school in Daman village, which is affiliated with al-Busayrah district.

He added that there were no victims in the bombing because the school was empty and the doors were closed.

ISIS, through outlets on social media, claimed responsibility for bombing the school one hour after the incident.

Unidentified gunmen are intensifying their targeting of official, civilian, and military buildings in the countryside of Deir ez-Zor, in conjunction with targeting members of the Syrian Democratic Forces, employees of the Autonomous Administration institutions, dignitaries, and residents in the region.

On May 18, unknown individuals set fire to a local council building in the town of al-Susah, 120 km east of Deir ez-Zor, belonging to the Autonomous Administration, and the whole building was destroyed.
